GUC Appoints System CTO

Hsinchu, Taiwan, April 24, 2017 - Global Unichip, the custom ASIC company, has appointed semiconductor industry veteran Igor Elkanovich as its System Chief Technical Officer (CTO). Mr. Elkanovich will drive the company's effort to upgrade system capabilities.
Mr. Elkanovich brings wide spectrum of multi-disciplinary system knowledge and over his 30-year career, has served in technical leadership positions for number of innovative companies. Most recently, as CTO of Verisense, he led development of complex SoCs at cutting-edge process technologies. Before he served as Vice President of VLSI and held management positions at Broadlight (acquired by Broadcom), Infineon, Mysticom (now a part of Cadence), and Motorola Semiconductors (Freescale).
"GUC's strategic goal is to expand its ASIC service to high-end systems customers. We've asked Igor Elkanovich to join GUC as our CTO with the main responsibilities of strengthening our system expertise, driving our design and verification methodology and positioning our IP portfolio to fit system customers' requirements," explained Dr. Ken Chen, President of GUC.
"I'm joining GUC at an exciting time. We're working on projects targeting TSMC's most advanced 16nm, 12nm and even 7nm process technologies. We've developed a broad, sophisticated IP portfolio and we're building upon vast manufacturing experience. My goal is to not only serve customers with the best devices, but also to focus on customer's systems optimization," said Igor Elkanovich.

Igor Elkanovich currently serves as System CTO in GUC.
Igor Elkanovich brings over 30 years of experience in the development of hardware and semiconductor products. As a CTO of Verisense, Igor established full turnkey ASIC development flow in the most advanced semiconductors process. In his previous position Igor served as Vice President of VLSI and was responsible for development of Broadlight chips both for Residential Gateway and Central Office applications. Prior to BroadLight, Igor led development of VDSL chips at Infineon (Savan) and Gigabit Ethernet PHY chips at Mysticom. In Motorola Semiconductors (Freescale) he was responsible for the development of audio/video chips for set-top box applications and was part of the ATM cell processor design team. Prior to Motorola, Igor led development of DSP-based equipment for brain research at Hebrew University and maritime navigation systems for the Navy.
Igor holds an MSc. in Electrical Engineering from Baku University, USSR.
